Shuttle launch tonight!
Don’t forget! Shuttle Discovery launches early Tuesday morning at 1:36am. With any luck, we’ll have a better view of the launch here at Celebration than we did for STS-127.

We added a new Celebration resident on Monday. Our little family of two grew by one when my wife delivered our son into this world on Monday, August 10, at Florida Hospital in Celebration. Both mommy and baby are happy and healthy!
I can’t say enough great things about Dr. David Marcantel and the fantastic staff there on the fourth floor in The Baby Place. The nurses there were very professional in their jobs, and knew exactly the right tone to strike during the emotional event of long labor, the birth itself, and the recovery. They were kind but authoritative, and, with the exception of one individual, never made us feel dumb when answering our first-time-parent questions.
So now you know why there haven’t been any updates lately!
The door to Shannons was open last night and they were serving beer and kettle chips as part of a “soft open”. The bartender Barry was friendly and entertaining, and we were able to preview the food menu, though full food service doesn’t begin until Friday. They’ll be offering breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner at average (for Celebration) prices.
The inside is fairly small, with maybe 8 bar stools or so, but there’s a decent sized outdoor area that is covered. Besides, the cordial atmosphere created by staff, owners, and patrons dispelled my concerns about personal space; it’s a pub, after all.
Best of luck to the newest addition to Celebration’s downtown. See you again soon.
Update: They appear to have a web site
